In the immediate neighbourhood of Digital Heritage Minds' headquarters in Berlin there are two enchanting lakes, each surrounded by a park, and there this beautiful sculpture called “Elegie” by Belorussian artist Evgenia Usimova is located. There was a predecessor sculpture called “Sommer” right on the post where now “Elegie” sits. However it was made of bronze, and robbed by metal thieves in 2013 in an act of infamous iniquity. Since 2015 “Elegie” (which is said to be made of cast stone rather than copper alloy) takes her place and reminds us of the myth of Oranke, the mermaid, who is associated with this place. It is one of the oldest myths of Berlin. 3D digitization of this object took place in March 2024.
